According to a French anthropologist Marc Augé, if a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then a space which cannot be defined as relational, or historical, or concerned with identity will be a non-place (Non-places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity). The perception of space like a non-place, however, is strictly subjective: each of us in his or her own way can see the same place as a non-place, or not. My work, influenced by the concept of Marc Augé, is trying explore human identity in these places.
