I happened to be in D.C. in the days leading up to the 2020 Presidential Election and took the time to photograph the streets of the capital city in this pivotal and heated moment. I spent most of my time on BLM Plaza located right outside the White House fence where most of the protest energy was located. Despite our nationwide political tension, I was heartened to see supporters of both candidates engaging in peaceful debate and listening to one another. Throughout the city, eerily empty streets and boarded up shops indicated anticipation of violence and nerves. All the photographs are taken on film (Kodak 200 and Portra 400).
