When The World Witnessed History - The Presidential Inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama

January 20th, 2009 Barack Hussein Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and makes history as the first African American elected. It was one of the coldest days of the year. I remember this vividly from the cold coming out of my mouth, and fly freezing hands. I traveled by bus with a group of like minded individuals that were extremely passionate about what we were about to witness on the steps of the capital. We all had worked on the Obama "Yes We Can" campaign to elect then senator Obama, and we were super excited and proud. As a documentary photographer half of my enthusiasm and excitement comes from first imagining the images in my head days before and then capturing magic. My focus remained on getting close and showing the high emotions of others. I believe those emotions were captured in this project.
