Although I regard the subject matter to be of little philosophical moment, the opportunity to see these forms in an abstract way reminded me that ALL art is abstract; it is always showing an aspect of a whole reality: a tone, color, mood, or synopsis of forms. To transform these objects is for me an intoxicating experience.
This work, abstractions of cocktails, is a silly diversion from my very serious study of the forms and rhythms of various flora.
That work is primary and essential to me as it attempts to depict the common, constant mortal struggle to remain alive.
It is about the nature of nature; the existential dread that we each avoid or face. as we contemplate our diminishing futures.
