The People of Nicaraagua's Canal Zone

This project began with the beginning of the groundbreaking ceremony for Nicaragua's new canal.It would displace over 120,000 people and destroy fragile jungle forests.I wanted to show the lives of the people who occupy this land before this land and the lives of these people would be altered forever. While it appears that the canal will never be built ,new highways are being built into the forests and land is being clear cut for pasture and large scale farming.With this increase in the development and destruction of the forests and rivers of this region the people who live hear are still threatened with the loss of their way of life and their land.
