Morning

Wake up early in the morning is my routine theses days, looking at the cutlery, and the metallic objects in my kitchen, I develop an emotion towards them. They are the first thing that I saw in the morning, I am hungry and thirsty, still trying to wake up from my deep dream. After a cup of drip coffee, I feel alive again, I am ready. What inspired me was the heat and emotion, cook wares are rather simple and metallic. They have a sense of coldness, when I touched it, it was ice cold at the beginning, but when time passed by it started to get warm , it started to be become alive. One day I accidentally drop my coffee dripper, the bottom part broke, but I couldn’t throw it away, there is a story inside that broken coffee dripper, it has a story of my morning, my broken vision in the morning. The project started with me collecting fork, spoons, knife, glasses and coffee dripper, something I touch everyday in the morning, I tried to arranged them in meaningful ways; for instance, the cook wares that I used to make a cup of coffee or cook my fried eggs. Most metallic objects have strong reflections on the edges, the texture also attracts my eyes, therefore, I use small light sources to further enhance the contrast and texture. The sharp shadows plays an important part in this project; it resembles the harsh spotlight in my kitchen; under the flash the objects are just like under its original storage space.
