Northland Studio is an intentional about-face to all the work I've been doing for 20 years. What started as a pandemic pet project has become my full time work. Searching for lost joy in making photographs led me back to my chemical roots in making large format portraits. I chose to work in the wet plate collodion process not to look old timey, but rather because it forces the subject and myself to slow way down. It strips away most of the spontaneity and leaves just the elements of still subject, light and silver.
