I conceived this project during a trip to Porto Maurizio (Imperia), a characteristic Ligurian village located in Italy.
Among several genres of photography I love architecture and while spending some days in this typical Italian village I was fascinated by the multiple minimalist insights one can have here.
The clean, rational lines of its neoclassic Dome and its lodges struck me for their beauty and its cracks and peelings did nothing but increase my fascination for such an authentic place, which spoke so well of the passage of time. I immediately perceived a series of simple elements such as clear architectural lines as clear symbols of the exquisite attempt to rationalize life and to impress pure, classical beauty forever. The cracks and peelings spoke at the same time of the immense power of time and human fragility. I believe minimalism is perfect in the process of starting from reality to abstract and reflect on universal themes such as time, rationalization attempts and aesthetics. This is what this project is about.
