California and the Bay Area

Old and new images from my adopted state. Photographing the California landscape seems a real challenge due to the state's size, varied landforms and life zones. Even with such diversity; including large populations and the urban landscape California, above all, is a land writ in superlatives with an abundance of urban open space, wilderness, seashore, immense trees, the Sierra Nevada, the often overlooked northern Coastal ranges, vast open deserts.
