Petroglyphs, or stone art, are the oldest forms of living expression dating from the earliest Polynesian voyages, 2,000 years ago.
Petroglyphs, or kiʻi pōhaku, are lava rock carvings etched into stone centuries ago by Native Hawaiians. Although the true meanings of the petroglyphs are unknown, it is generally thought these carvings are records of births and other significant events in the lives of the people who lived here long ago, and they still speak to us today
