Interior/Exterior: A study of moiety in color

I am using the external themes of stereotypes, world news, religion, dependency, and fatherhood as a point of departure in this work. By utilizing my own imagery, I can create moments of misinterpretation and contradictions between interactions of reality (Exterior) and my imagination (Interior). By combining fragmented elements of images, color, and texture as independent collage materials, I am able to allow the work to undergo multiple transformations between the collection of “Exterior” information and the “Interior” processing of that information. This will provide me with the narrative of an interaction, (whatever that interaction may be). The final image is created photographically to creates an interruption by flattening the surface of the work. With the use of digital imaging technology, a print is made in order to create this interruption between the printed surface and the 3-D elements of the hand applied collage material. My hope for this work is to build upon moments of clarity between the intersections of my reality and my imagination. I am calling this investigation, “Interior / Exterior: a study of moiety in color”.
