Women lost to time's passing

After decades of photographing live models for prints that were ultimately about me, since 2014, I’ve been photographing and “bringing to life” portrait statues of women of the past; in their multitudes, this work is about them. Several to many photographs become photo prints; print quality matters, I do the printing here using uncoated BFK Rives printmaking paper on the Epson P8000. Childbirth was often fatal, disease rampant, war constantly on the horizon; these women maintained relationships, society, and civilization. They were brave, courageous, and valiant. Immortalized in stone, but forgotten; this work is about them, their lives, their stories. Their stories can be compelling, narratives that blossom in your mind; by turns heartbreaking, powerful, enchanting, overwhelming. Here are drama, anguish, joy, terror, and tenderness. My work is to find and show who they were. They were like us. Their lives had different emergencies. we can feel the time that has passed. I depict them to celebrate them, remember, and to honor them, these women who laughed, raged, inspired and were inspired, and loved. Whom will you remember, or enchants you? Whom are you unable to forget? I hope that they come to haunt you.
