During the months of March and April, the entire Saugerties Public Library will be the gallery for the "Altered Books" exhibit. About 20 artists, including me, will have on view a wide variety of artwork created from discarded books, with the art displayed in every nook and cranny. My work will be on the mantle of the original Carnegie fireplace, in the Reference Room -- the original book from which the photo series "At A Loss for Words" was created plus some photos from that portfolio of work will be on view and the presentation may surprise you.
The original book is I Promessi Sposi by Alessandro Manzoni, first published in 1827. The altered copy on view is what I found (or perhaps I was directed to find) in mid-September 2017 -- rain soaked, weathered, pages missing on the side of the road. It was taken home where it was photographed.
Reception March 3 from 5-7pm, and April 14 from 5-7pm.. The photo "missing pages" had its debut as part of the Griffin Museum's ONCE UPON A TIME exhibit 2021 (thank you Paula Tognarelli)
