The project "Move out" is the visual chronicle of the relocation process from suburban Chalandri to the hill of Strefi, in the center of Athens. A process which is documented through self-portraiture and staged photography. A relocation that is experienced more as a psychic "opening" and less as just a relocation from one point to another. The time before, the day of the move and those that follow are cut off from their temporal continuity and presented in a non-linear way, as fragments of reality. Thus referring to the function of memory that selectively recalls events, in the individual's attempt to cope with specific experiences. At the same time, the photographs function as an autobiographical document, which reveal a tendency for order in the chaos of such a process, but also as a reminder of the desire for a smooth transition to the new and unfamiliar environment. Ultimately the trivial act of relocation leads to a broader self-repositioning and evolves into a personal reboot.
