To create the Peeled series Coombs’ has created a process of his own using Time Zero Polaroid film. The artist after creating a portrait removes all the edging of said Polaroid film piece. Then, as the film’s emulsion begins to harden during its development, Coombs slowly peels the film apart, separating the emulsion layers. The addition of air drying what is typically sealed aids In the textural paint-like result. The harnessing of imperfection and chaos within a predetermined process allows Coombs to reveal his inner painter's approach to photography with his Peeled series.
