Body Parts

Today’s News Mandate (the same as yesterday’s and the days before that) announced: “CITIZENS! SEARCH FOR YOUR ZOLSTAIZEN!!!" (Zolstaizen. noun. a state of absolute completeness.) It is well known that The Party’s Central Decree is that Biological Intelligence (BI) has been the enemy of the Party and therefore of the people and that it is to be phased out (by DECREE OF ERADICATION). Free thought and the ability to create and think in diverse pathways can lead to unpredictability of thought and in turn to conflict and chaos. The natural order is under threat; Artificial Intelligence (AI) must be embraced by all! The Party owned AI outlets proclaim: “ RESOLVE YOUR EXISTENCE. CONSOLIDATE YOUR MEANING. BODY PARTS AVAILABLE HERE!”. As had been feared by photographers, literati, artists and all other members of the artistic class (or THE DEGENERATUS, as The Party has labelled them), the advance of AI is already stifling individuality, creativity and freedom of thought and expression. The Party has long embarked on a programme of behavioural re-adjustment and reinforcement amongst the population which has been encouraged or indulged to undergo bodily manipulations and skin printing as well as implants, and in some cases transplants. The Party’s Citizens are therefore primed for, and receptive to, further adjustment after this initial process of socialisation. Predictably, The Party's proclamations have been warmly embraced by the majority of Citizens and demand for new body parts has increased exponentially. But frequent breakdowns in the Party’s Neuro Hardware Programs (responsible for the dissemination and transmission of algorithmically produced Neural Conformity Messaging Signals) have resulted in the malfunctioning of parts, and supply chain problems (caused mainly by BI-Exit) have compounded matters further. Consequently a not insignificant proportion of Citizens are living in a state of Unzolstaizen (i.e. a state of absolute incompleteness) and have been ordered by The Party to occupy ‘Redemption Parks’ on the outskirts of the City pending re-correction and replacement of missing body parts. But some Citizens wander out… The dystopian future of yesteryear has arrived. N.B. All of these candid images were taken by me, a member of the Degeneratus, from the outside of the Redemption Park. About the project: Using an Orwellian narrative this project is an unapologetic and somewhat playful critique of the proliferation of AI in all aspects of life and art. I should add that these are real images and none have been altered or manipulated using computer software and none have been created with the assistance of AI !
