Zehn.Kilometer// ten.kilometers
These photos are part of the project: Zehn.Kilometer // Ten.Kilometers’ which developed organically. It started when the safety measures during the pandemic became quite strict in Germany. Though I conformed with the rules, I was confronted with controversy as I ventured out. I tried to focus on the bright side of this experience as life, like photography, exists through contrast. The strict measures put in place also meant that I no longer had access to certain public spaces. I felt that I was not part of society, even feeling ostracized at times. I was most at home in nature. As I explored my surroundings, I began taking pictures with my phone when I observed something of beauty that moved me and told a story. I shared these photos on my IG-stories. What started out as a bridge from darkness to light, evolved into a lovely project. The title of my project is self-explanatory since I walked 10km during these strolls. After two years, I ended up taking many pictures. Selecting 10 images as a series wasn’t easy, since this project contains many different subjects and ideas. The pictures that I have chosen I feel represent the project as a whole.
