Sehnzucht (2015-2016)

The pictures I made for the series 'Sehnzucht' are a personal exploration how to cope with the complete new identity of motherhood. Feelings of isolation and frustration, but at the same time a deep unconditional and tender love are being experienced within this new identity. The title of the works 'Sehnzucht' has multiple meanings, where the German word 'Sehnsucht' means 'longing for/ desire', and where 'Sucht' means 'addiction/obsession', and ‚breeding/offspring'. Being a Dutch artist who moved for her partner to Germany, there will always be a part of me that is somehow in between two worlds and trying to look for the one world within the other. The puropse of the series is to share my personal vision upon motherhood, a period of mixed intense feelings.
