To challenge the nature of the human-less super-infrastructures which, ironically, are used to fuel human activity, exacerbating hyper-consumerism and hyper-digitalisation. These infrastructures used to be in the remote locations of the countryside, but is now creeping towards urban centres.
In order to examining the delicate relationships between industrial landscapes and humans as hyper-connectivity drives the global society today. The series is focused on the Westland region of the Netherlands, also known as the Glass City. It is an area with the highest concentration of greenhouse horticulture in the world, covering up to 80% of cultivated land. At night the sky is lit up by the neon yellow and magenta growing lights. By 2040, all greenhouses will become automated and hyper-optimised as demands for food grow, farmers will no longer be needed.
