Kishin Himori creates artworks on the themes of “the consciousness of existence or non-existence” and “the shape of lives”. He is striving to look beyond the surface by making visuals that may not have a visual component.
In this series, He makes a conscious effort to capture the “connection with things”. Artworks are derived from his experience of seeing a cloud shaped like a Japanese dragon that appeared after launching a rocket on the island(Tanegashima).
Legend has it that a Japanese dragon is a creature connecting with two things never converge-the heavens and the earth, this life and afterlife. He expresses such a sense by photographing as if the light lines appear. Each situation seems like life itself, and the light lines seem to express the connection among these invisible things-places, things, and existence.
