Traumatic events can be understood as a fragmenting of consciousness and memory and exist as wordless experiences in the psyche. The event sits in the memory unable to be categorized or integrated. In this work I am exploring the felt sense of this fragmentation; these images document a return to the site of a traumatic event. My body is obscured, destabilizing identity and the form of the body is mutable. This project seeks to document the process of what grappling with trauma within our physiology might look like, how we might begin to understand how to heal our bodies both individually and collectively.
