The project grew out of photographs taken in my hometown of Maynardville, Tennessee. After damaging my hard-drive I became interested in the fragmented images that were retrieved. I was never happy in Tennessee and moved to California where I was involved in a horrific car accident. I have no memory of the accident or several weeks after. There are some things and experiences best forgotten, but this missing time has always fascinated me. Thinking about this missing time, childhood memories, and questioning the authenticity of recollection has driven the creation of this work. I am filling in the gaps with new colors, data, and information.
