2024, Starting a new series about a new start. After my a cerebral infarction I moved on, I moved house, and I also moved garden.
Like a bird, looking onto my garden from a high tree, feeling comfortable enough to jump to lower branches, lower and lower, until it finally reaches the small waterway next to my pond and takes a bath. Thats how I am drawing the ground plan of my garden. From the rough lines of the property boundaries and buildings, to the details of the paths, terraces, the trees, the plants. I can see myself from above, sitting on the wooden bench in the front.
This drawing of the ground plan is going to be the framework of my new projects; a self-created guide. A frame I love to research. A size I can handle. How it’s filled it doesn’t matter; material, size, pretty or not, it is all an option. But the fact that it is my garden, which I am learning to know more and more, knowing the little beasts and bugs and plants, a garden with a fence and a gate, that also matters.
It makes me happy to work with all of this, to make my tiny detailed drawings completing the ordening in my own way. An ordening which invites me to make a translating, to use a different angle.
The combination of figure and letter in the titel stands for the place in the drawing of the ground plan where the work started (by placing a transparent checkered paper, with figures horizontally and letter vertically over the drawing).
