Prati di Caprara, East Side

Photographs were taken on April 26, 2024, during a walk in the area of the so called “Prati di Caprara” (east side), located on the north-west outskirts of Bologna. The area of approximately 27 hectares, was abandoned for over twenty years. Here, nature has taken over, giving life to a real "wild urban forest". The forest, which constitutes the largest green lung of the city of Bologna, contains as many as 200 different plant species and as many animal species absent in other parks. After years of fear of urbanizing this area, in recent years and thanks to the protests of citizens gathered in an urban committee, the municipal administration has decided that the area will be preserved.
