Childhood memories are like fragments of a dream—elusive, vivid, and often triggered by the smallest of things. A scent, a sound, a texture, or even a taste can open a door to long-forgotten moments. We long for the past in the spaces between who we were and who we’ve become. In that longing, we search for a sense of belonging, a connection to the roots that shaped us, or a place where we can rediscover who we are.
“I Found You In My Longings” is a photographic exploration of this search, a journey into the hidden corners of memory and desire. Set against the rugged beauty of the Antioquian countryside in Colombia, this project is rooted in a place called “RosaBlanca”—a magical landscape that exists both in the physical world and in the mind. It is a place where time feels suspended, where memories from childhood and dreams from the subconscious intertwine.
At the heart of this project is my wife, who grew up in the very heart of RosaBlanca. Her memories and experiences have shaped the way I see this land—both as an outsider drawn to its beauty and as someone privileged to witness how deeply it runs in her veins. Through her eyes, I’ve come to understand RosaBlanca not just as a geographical place, but as a powerful force that holds her history, her family, and the essence of her childhood. Her stories, her longings, and her unspoken connection to this land are woven into the fabric of this work.
Through the lens of the camera, I have sought to capture the fleeting moments where longing and memory converge—where past and present meet in the quiet spaces between what was and what could have been. Each image in this project reflects the complex layers of childhood: the joy, the innocence, the loss, and the constant search for belonging. The landscapes of RosaBlanca become a metaphor for the inner landscapes of desire, the longing to return, to find meaning, or to reconcile the dreams of youth with the realities of adulthood.
This work is not just my exploration; it is a shared journey, deeply personal, and profoundly collaborative. As I document this place, I am also documenting her memories, the ones that echo in her heart, and the ones that live in the soil beneath our feet. Through her, I’ve found a way to see not just the land, but also the ways in which we are all tied to the places that form us.
In this body of work, I invite you to join me in the exploration of a place where memory is alive, where the weight of longing is tangible, and where the search for belonging never truly ends. This project is not just about recollecting the past—it is about the ways in which we continue to seek, to desire, and to find pieces of ourselves in the longings we carry forward. It is an invitation to witness how deeply the past shapes who we become and how, in the process, we often find each other again.
