This is a short presentation of a wider project, called "Into the Mothers" ("Dentro le madri" in Italian) created by me and a psychologist specialized in Maternity and Motherhood. It is composed of 33 images, collected together by themes like birth, breastfeeding, emotions.
The project was born with the idea that everywhere in the world maternity and motherhood are idealized. Every woman becoming a mother has, or better must, to be always happy. There is no space for anger, tiredness, discouragement.
It's not intended to be a project about sadness, it's just about truth: true emotions, true feelings, that can last a minute or an entire life but they exist and you should not feel ashamed thinking you are the only one in the world living them.
The greatest problem in motherhood is that no dark corner is told, so that every woman finding herself in a difficult situation feels to be alone, to be the only one.
The project wants to be a flag, an announcement, for every woman that nobody is alone. That every feeling is normal and there are no better or worse mothers. There must be no judgment, only support.
Being a mother is already enough. It's already the biggest thing on Earth.
