Last year I battled severe back pain. During the most challenging times of pain and immobility I found solace in this photo project. I focused on capturing the textures of decay found in nature. This subject matter resonated with me deeply, as it mirrored the feeling of decline that I was experiencing in my physical state.
All of the images were taken in my kitchen counter. During the most gruelling moments my kitchen counter become a makeshift studio, where I explored the textures and decay found in everyday objects or in the most unexpected places. Capturing photos served as a therapeutic escape, channelling pain into creative expression.
I believe that the meaning of these reflections goes beyond the physical realm. Hopefully these will remind us to appreciate the fleeting nature of life and to find strength in our ability to adapt and overcome. I hope that these images, taken in the most unlikely settings, will inspire you to reflect on your own journeys and find solace in the beauty of decay.
Through reflective imagery I tried to unveil a duality of life and find solace in the beauty that can be found amidst decay.
