Stroll Los Angeles is a search for identity after becoming at mother of twins. After having Ellie and Jack, my identity as teacher, curator and photographer was put to the side. Common for many parents (women especially), my question was how do I feed my identity and still nurture my children? Having a love/ hate/ love relationship with my adopted city of Los Angeles, that I was now strolling through to get the twins to nap, I was reminded something Nayland Blake said to me “to just walk and photograph the city”. Going out in the street at first was about just looking again. Looking outside of myself and back in the world. There’s this thing about meditating on the world around you that washes all the feelings of inner doubt. I didn’t feel alone when making pictures of the day beginning. I got to rest and admire the village around me that I created on my walks as a new mom .
