This project explores the cyclical nature of water, drawing inspiration from Daoist philosophy and Bruce Lee’s reflections on water’s transformative power. In its journey from mountain peaks to tranquil lakes, water represents both creation and destruction. It gathers potential energy in the mountains, and as it flows downward, it transforms from stillness into force, carving its path through the landscape. In waterfalls, you can see its strength and adaptability—acting as both a destructive and nurturing force. Even at its most powerful, water sustains life, helping growth in unexpected places. When it reaches its lowest point, it finds peace in still pools, returning to a state of calm. This cycle mirrors the natural rhythms of life, where periods of turbulence eventually give way to tranquility. Water’s ability to change forms while maintaining its essence reflects the Daoist ideas of balance and harmony. Shooting this project on film reinforces the timelessness and permanence of the water cycle, capturing each moment without the influence of digital manipulation. Film, like water, exists in its natural state, grounding the images in a reality that can’t be altered.
