Dastan-e-Khusrau is a photo essay born out of the love and admiration for the 13th century poet and musician Ameer Khusrau, who's beautiful compositions like Sakal Ban, Chaap Tilak and Rang among others, continue to enrich the lives of the people of South Asia!!
The idea of the shoot was born after watching a Daastangoi (musical play) titled Jo Dooba So Paar, on the life of the poet. I was so mesmerized by the artistic storytelling and music, that over a period of time I watched it more than half a dozen times. Later, I contacted the co-director of the play Ajitesh Gupta which ultimately led to the collaboration.
This is a non-linear essay, where an effort has been made to visually capture the essence of love and ecstasy the poet would have felt more than 700 years ago with a heart overflowing with love.
