This project is the second chapter of a 2023 film-noir–inspired photographic series titled "City Unseen".
Nocturnal Activity is a portrait of the metropolis from dusk to dawn. It begins in the liminal hour before nightfall, when daylight fades and the sun slips beneath the horizon. In those moments, tall buildings stretch their shadows across the city like dark omens. The familiar world begins to distort; surfaces once lit with clarity now suggest concealment and unease.
Night transforms the urban landscape. Landmarks vanish into shadow, streets acquire a secretive geometry, and the ordinary becomes charged with a sense of mystery. Without light, control is lost. My imagination surges into the void, conjuring menace where once there was order. This is the essence of noir—the play of shadow and light, the tension between what is visible and what is withheld, and as such, I'm drawn to the light. Each frame is an invitation to inhabit uncertainty, to glimpse the world as it teeters between allure and threat.
Nocturnal Activity is a reflection of an inner state—our shared vulnerability to the unknown that darkness makes visible.
