The term “amarcord” derives from the Romagna dialect expression “a m'arcord,” which literally means “I remember.”
It became a neologism in the Italian language thanks to Federico Fellini's 1973 film of the same name, evolving from a dialectal expression into a noun that denotes a nostalgic recollection of the past. This report was produced along the Albanian coast in the mid-2010s. It was a time when, following years of heavy migration to Italy, the country was discovering the myth of development and the transition from a rural society to a “welfare” society. Soon, however, this transition clashed with the contradictions of a chaotic and destructive development that undermined the old social structures.
