The term “amarcord” derives from the Romagna dialect expression “a m'arcord,” which literally means “I remember.”
It became a neologism in the Italian language thanks to Federico Fellini's 1973 film of the same name, evolving from a dialectal expression into a noun that denotes a nostalgic recollection of the past. This report was produced along the Albanian coast in the mid-2010s. It was a time when, following years of heavy migration to Italy, the country was discovering the myth of development and the transition from a rural society to a “capitalistic” society. Soon, however, this transition clashed with the contradictions of a chaotic and destructive development that undermined the old social structures. These images, therefore, bear witness to this moment of transition in the form of evocation of an "amarcord" also in the visual style.
