Painted Icons, Tree Portraits of Louisiana's Historic Live Oaks

Painted Icons brings together approximately thirty-three portraits of Louisiana live oaks, many of them members of the Live Oak Society and some believed to predate European settlement. These trees have witnessed generations of human activity, environmental change, storms, and the transformation of the surrounding landscape.
