Several years ago I visited the 19thC Hanford Lumber Mill in East Meredith N.Y. The mill is in Delaware County not too far from where I live. It's still an operational mill, the major parts mostly underground to receive the water power from a small river. The Mill still uses the original equipment --a combination of metal and wooden wheels, fabric belts, water, etc. I've gone back several times, taken multiple shots, and finally processed them in Black and White. The pictures include large areas of complex yet integrated design as well as images of smaller related sections. There are many images of a single part (like a wheel both in motion or still) with closeups that extend into abstraction. The experience of using mostly found light (no flash) to process the images has been both challenging and exciting. I gave Photoshop Elements 13 and myself a good workout.
