Gascoyne Estates

Gascoyne Estate was built in 1949 as part of the post war redevelopment plan, since then it has expanded in size and now houses a large part of the Homerton, East London population. My early childhood was spent in Hackney and I was born in Homerton Hospital, it was by chance that I returned to live there. Upon discovering the vast and expanding Gascoyne Estates I soon came to see it as the heart of Homerton. These photographs depict my wanderings and encounters with the people on the estate.
