Hannah Burton is a London based photographer, specialising in portraiture. She studied photography at London College of Communication, where she graduated with First Class Honours in 2014.
Interested in the performative nature of the photographic portrait, Hannah's work examines our notions of self and our social identities.
“A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he is being photographed, and what he does with this knowledge is as much a part of the photograph as what he’s wearing or how he looks.” (Richard Avedon)
Hannah is fascinated by the way we perform our identities and the complex, inevitably collaborative and, at times, problematic exchange between photographer and subject.
