"Tokyo blur" is the name of this series of photographs in black and white, mostly of them at night, in many cases close to abstraction, that show us a mysterious, sensual, rainy and blurred Tokyo. But the title of this poetic project, done it in spring during the cherry blossom time, has a metaphorical intention.
When one tries to control everything that happens in our life, usually gets more and more stressed. However, when we are out of our regular environment, "out of focus", we have the chance to change this situation. Far from our cultural references, obviously, we don't understand all that happens around us, therefore we can't try to control it. Perhaps is just a paradox, but that's my feeling every time I go to my beloved Tokyo. There are lots of situations "out of focus" around me: behaviors, manners, and words that I don't understand completely. However, that perception allow me a better understanding about my life and who I am.
The complete series has more than fifty photos. For the Emerging Talent Awards 2014, I've made a selection of 10 works to create a short story, a kind of a photographic haiku, contained within the overall project, however with a meaning in itself.
