Unveiled introduces us to a group of Pakistani women living in Brooklyn, NY. These women have created their own "family" here in order to live a lifestyle not accepted in their homeland. My friendship with these women has enabled me the close proximity and trust to create photographs that show the intermingling of traditional rituals with those of modern life, while also reflecting on issues as sexuality and the subtext of dominance and submission. I intentionally use varied pallets (ranging from rich scarlet and turquoise to a monochrome, pallid faded tan) to highlight the complexities their life choices represent. Ultimately I wish to challenge the notion of how we view women from conservative societies.
