A shape - unidentified entity - called upon by the Earth's energy, born from whiteness which slowly rises. It emerges, lonely, from still water and stares at a world of trees and clouds wondering about life itself... The beginning of a long journey as it wanders inside and outside in a world of mankind, forest, hills and plains.
Is the living world really the way we see it? A passage is suggested, then shifts towards another. Resurrection? Perhaps beyond? But what is it? A strange reality or a vision which emerges from deep inside the subconscious. This elsewhere, unveiling majestic and serene vegetations, growing and growing towards a new ending.
Through her sober and pared down work, Veronique L'Hoste considers birth, life, death and beyond. Inspired by vast spaces, she shows silhouettes draped in a soft white veil anchored to the ground, recovering before leaving. These anonymous forms demonstrate man's vital need to reconnect with Mother Nature, to greet her in his daily life, to idealise her, placing her in the centre of his world. But, in a twist of fate, in the end she will greet him to finally rest.
Through her lenses, the photographer contemplates this return to simplicity and purity through a luminous and ever present colour white. Naturally interacting with nature's unexpected sacred voices: an enticing breeze or the sounds of cracking branches.
