Before covering external subject matters it is good to be aware of your own comprehension of the world and the ways you handle it. In other words, before you know who you are, and understand where you come from, you may not be able to comprehensively portray others - because the camera can be used as a tool for a reflection of your inner world.
So I returned to my starting point - I photographed my home island (16 sq. km), in the Finnish archipelago through the seasons. The Finnish Archipelago Sea in the Baltic comprises of 22,483 islands, making it together with the Aland Archipelago the world's largest. This is the sphere that inspired me to take on photography and during my time spent abroad I have come to know its value and uniqueness. How valuable is quietness, how rare is pure and spacious nature where you can walk safely by yourself during any time of the day or night. I have also discovered the characters who in my early life surrounded me but who I didn't properly know, until now, when I've had the opportunity to spend time with them. In search of peace and quiet, new entrepreneurs have settled on this island, and therefore the human population is rising again after a lengthy period of decline.
Finland's nature has made Finland known worldwide, these photographs offer a glimpse of it through an island. This is "Some Call it Paradise" - a project executed on the archipelago that has been quoted as the world's most beautiful.
