Glisten: to reflect a sparkling light or a faint intermittent glow; shine lustrously.
Glisten is an effect of beauty but short-lived. For some reason it always reminds me of how people meet in this big universe. Around the world people have different ways to refer to this “encounter”, it could be destiny, fate, chance, coincidence or in my definition “Glisten.” I photographed numerous surfaces of the ocean to portray this encounter. For I believe the true connection between human beings are often rare, hard to describe and so difficult to maintain let alone prolong. They shift like the tide and waves but when by chance collide they ignite sparks and illuminate wonderful moments. Therefore, in this series I wish to express these moments with movements and manipulated color. I created a body of works, keeping to my theme of Taiwanese landscapes as elements and created 20 images. Each represent fractions of moments that have sparkled in my lifetime. Furthermore, I challenged my images to “glisten” in different light forms. These images when given with distinct lighting such as led, warm yellow or colored lighting will have different visual effects and appear as different textures.
