Bible Re-Imagined

The images originate from a personal interest in all things historical, with an emphasis on religious painting. The spectacle demonstrated within these works of art appeals to my sense of theatre, resulting in images which are not only original in conception, but which also offer a new and imaginative contemporary perspective contrasting to the classical methodology of religious painting. I have imagined how the basic meaning of the original painting could be de-coded, permitting an acceptable connection between our society, supposedly more advanced technologically and more sophisticated culturally, and those of previous centuries. The characters have evolved to permit inclusion of topical issues, linking past and present, and although occasionally humorous, the images do not detract from the seriousness of the underlying messages that can be found within the original paintings or even within my own photographic images.
