In July of 2016, my wife, Carolina, gave birth to our first child, Luiza, after a nearly five-year struggle to diagnose the cause of our infertility. It was a difficult walk through doubts, insecurities and fears. Nonetheless, it was also a walk full of self knowledge, faith and love. We had to go through an egg donation process, due to a "low stock" picture of Carol's eggs. In Brazil, egg donation is a procedure regulated by the Federal Council of Medicine and consists of the anonymous donation of an egg to the couple who needs it to conceive. After it, the donated egg is fertilized with the spermatozoon of the father through a regular IVF process. Unlike most couples who undergo this treatment and choose to remain confidential, we decided to open up with friends and family. In a Catholic country as Brazil this still is a taboo, and we think we can help many people by breaking it, by talking naturally about this matter. July, 19th of 2016. This is when Luiza started to discover her little new world. A world of new feelings, colors, smells and shapes. A world that I, a father who loves his daughter and the art of photography, decided to documente, day by day, through my lenses and her little eyes. This is a fragment of a huge documentation of special places discovered by her. A new world. A growing world.
