These photos were gathered over two weekends in late September and early October 2016, during redecoration works at Moorgate Tube Station.
Preparatory works had revealed a palimpsest of old and torn advertising posters and images mainly dating back to the 1980s and 1990s, and in one case (the National Building Society) much older.
Such images are by nature transitory. The particular way by which they have been overlaid, preserved, revealed and partially removed caught my attention due to their unintentional resemblance to synthetic cubism, and as a temporary, distorted and partially destroyed view of the ephemera of life.
