The Singapore Botanical Garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of over 182 acres. The garden has an innate nature of making individuals feel very comfortable of the space it offers. The garden seems to offer a personal space to every one even though it is a public space. It is like a home away from home.
WONDERLAND is my personal visual interpretation of the garden. It reminded me of the old cartoon character called Noddy who lived in a Mushroom house in a fantasy land. It also reminded me if a fairy tale called ‘Snow white and the seven dwarfs and some stories involving characters like elves and fairies. From babies in a pram chauffeured by their nannies to the old senior citizens who often visit the park either just for a stroll or to exercise, the park offers them both comfort and personal space. The park is also home to many exotic species and specimens of Orchids. It also has a small mini rain forest with trees and plants from the Amazon basin. It is very easy to forget and loose one self in the confines of the park. It truly is a wonderful place in the urban landscape of Singapore.
