Bloody Night
Yet another bloody night woke up the sleeping Filipinos. Bloodshed caused by either the ongoing drug operations or the unidentified motorcycling gunmen.
Yet another night where some lawmen abuse the powers. Just as the light of the sun dies, thier eyes are also waiting for the kill and are directed to those known to be assets or a known drug suspect. Our eyes may be surprised that these people are the next to fall.
Yet another night where drug personalities, despite the vicious series of deaths, continue with their illegal activities. Is poverty to blame for their seemingly unfazed actions?
Yet another night of hearing and witnessing these kinds of stories. Two years have passed and these bloody nights started to be the new normal. I know the stories but I choose to turn a blind eye. The new normal.
Yet another night of the bloody drug war. A war which has not yet seen the light at the end of the tunnel--a tunnel as long as the amount of illegal drugs which takes lives nightly and causes person in authorities to abuse their powers.
Maybe the drug war will end the drug menace, but not until it makes a mark on history and most especially the families of those who fell. But until then, it is yet another bloody night.
