I Use macro digital photography to dissect rays of light. I believe the resulting images leave us clues into the workings of the world around us. Within these tiny spaces of less than an inch, I find portals into places beyond our visual range. Places where the energy signatures of past and present exist together waiting for instruction. I shot this series of photographs in 2016 in Croatia, a beautiful European country that shares the Adriatic Sea with Italy. Mostly coastline and Islands with vibrant, friendly people forced into war with their neighbors in the early 1990s because of politics, and resources through the guise of religious differences. Thirty years later this place and its inhabitants still hold sorrowful memories of their losses. These images capture the color of sunrise and the longing for a fresh start, layered with dark emotions of loss, all encapsulated in the light of this lovely place where history meets the sea.
