What is the architecture, the symbolism of the vessel? This is a place of potential, never final, always in between one place and another. Like the “pantry improvisations” of Fischli & Weiss, my improv of objects and materials uses time-based techniques documenting semi-private performances.
As an artist I am drawn to fundamental elements found in everyday life. Paths of fluids or dry compounds and minerals like salt and sugar are traced. The images are poised between the surreal and the everyday -- asking what if, and what is.
My photographs attempt to excavate the surfaces and moments of daily life and lived-in environments, like an “archeology” of buried intentions.
My artistic investigations over time have returned to certain themes -- that of the universal in the quotidian, where tabletop territories are explored as if they were new continents. Through this process of experimentation, I hope to trace observation to discovery.
