Passage Sound

This work merges images and music into a video presenting a scale based on the colors suggested proposals for each element photographed in a certain period in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Based on an experimental system that goes for a week, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, photos are taken one after another during a 30 seconds period, which is repeated every 15 minutes. The final structure formed by 9 sequences of pedestrian walkways revealed the shape of a musical score. In collaboration with musicians the images' soundtrack was constructed in a traditional way and also by software. The resulting soundtrack can be accessed at sylviacarolinne.com
